My Story

[HEAT WAVE]

        Okay everyone, this is a story I had to write in one day for my English class. Are Great principle (sarcasm) decided to make us juniors compete in a local newspaper contest! Well, he didn't tell us until the day before everything had be turned in! So expect this story to be a littl rushed and not my best! I shall do it by two or three paragraphs per post! Except for this first post!

Adjusting to a New Family
   Jeff O’Berer’s never had an easy life. Unlike most teenagers he knew, he and his little brother Dan lived with a foster family, instead of his parents or grandparents. When he was fourteen years old, his father hanged himself in front of him. Shortly after that his mother was hospitalized by a car accident caused by a crazy driver. She’s been in a coma ever since. So when a social worker came to both of his grandparents of both sides, they responded with no emotion. They viewed Jeff’s parents as traitors to their families, because they had married each other against their family’s wishes. So when they heard about their grandchildren’s situation, they told the social worker to leave and never come back. The social worker confused with the way the elders acted, set out to find a suitable family for Jeff and his brother.

Poor Jeff! I know it was kind of harsh, but his life was rather unfortunate! This first post was mainly a proluge! I will update more later today.

Nice story, has an interesting begining. I actually read it 'cause it was short.

A couple months later, Jeff and Dan moved in to the Gearons home. The Gearons were a married couple couldn't have babies, but they always wanted children. So when they heard the O’Berer children story their hearts were saddened and decided they would do anything to give the children a new home. So after the paperwork was filed, the Gearons family had two more members.
   Dan who was thrilled about having new family was the exact opposite way Jeff felt. Jeff was having trouble accepting these latest events, was shy and quiet. No matter how hard the Gearons tried to get his attention, he never spoke to them, and only left the house for school. When he did communicate to them, it would be through notes or gestures. The Gearons were worried about the oldest O’Berer, decided to take him to a therapist. Even during the therapy sessions, Jeff only communicated through notes. After the last session the therapist asked the Gearons to come to her office.
   “I know you’re concerned for young Jeff, but I advise you take your time with him. Most teenagers his age need time to accept change.  He has expressed to me that he knows your good people, and he’s thankful for you’re the home you have provided for him, but he’s not ready to do activities as a family yet.” stated the therapist.
   “So we should leave him alone?” asked Mrs. Gearon worriedly.
   The therapist answered “Of coarse not Mrs. Gearons! Just give him a little more time and he should come around.”
    Both of the Gearons were relieved at this and thanked the therapist for her help. They went home, and gave Jeff the time that he needed and sure enough Jeff was becoming more active with the family. A couple of weeks later he was having full conversations and loved going out and hunting, fishing, and playing sports with Mr. Gearons, While Mrs. Gearons taught him how to cook. For the next year everything was going just right.

It was entered in a contest last month, but i still yet to here word! I dobt I would win anyways! The final stretch!
******************************************************************        Unfortunately all good things have to come to an end. One day during the school, Jeff was called down to the office. He was confused, because he couldn’t think of anything that he did wrong. Entering the office nervously, he asked the secretary Ms. Dasted the question he was dying to know.
“Why was I called down here?” Her face turned grim and she pointed to the principles office. ‘Something bad must have happened.’ He thought to himself as he entered the office. When he entered the principles office he saw Dan, The Gearons, his guidance counselor Mrs. Lee, and the principle Mr. Feth. He noticed Dan was crying, while the adults had the same grim expression Ms. Dasted wore. He immediately asked
“What’s wrong? Please tell me! If anything bad happened I need to know.”
“Your mother passed away shortly after you left for school this morning. I’m sorry son, she’s gone.” answered Mr. Gearons. Grief immediately swept passed Jeff’s body, and he ran to his brother and embraced him in a hug and started crying with him to. Mrs. Gearons immediately swept the boys in a hug and comforted them, when Mr. Feth spoke
   “The boys will be excused from school for the next month. Clearly this time is a tragic for them, and they need all the support they can get. Please allow us to do anything that could help them.”
“Thanks for the offer, but my main concern is getting the boys home and helping them through this rough time for them. We’ll let you know later, but for now we have to go.” replied Mr. Gearons. With that the family went home.
   The next month was obviously the hardest time for the boys and the family to connect. Both boys were more distant then ever, and it didn’t look like they would be alright for awhile, even with the support of the Gearons, school, and community. Eventually the family started going to a therapy, only this time they went together.   
    A few months later the family started to pull things back together, but their still was a times where the boys remember their mother and return to their depression. One night Jeff, who tried to stay strong for Dan, broke down completely, and Mrs. Gearons rushed quickly to comfort him.
“Why is life so unfair? First my father kills himself in front of me, my mother slips into a coma only to die a year later, and my so called family hates me. What did I do to deserve this?” Every bad experience he ever had started to come out.
“Jeff, sometimes life takes unexpected turns that seem unfair. Your life never been easy, but you still go on. That’s the important thing. As for your family, they made their mistake by not taking you in. You are a wonderful person who did not deserve any of these burdens. Mr. Gearons and I are honored to be you and Dan’s guardians. Not a day passes by that we regret our decision. We love you two like you were our own, and always will no matter what happens.” in a soothing voice.
It was there, Jeff realized how lucky he was to have the Gearons for his foster parents and how much he loved them. All thoughts about how unfair life been to him vanished, and he focused on the positives he’s been given. His future looked bright and with the Gearons, or now who he called Mom and Dad would watch him with pride in how they raised him.

Thanks for reading my story! This is not my best work and I suppose to do a fanfic soon, but I think I'm going to make it into a RPG instead! I will also +karma anyone else who reiews this! I hope you enjoyed my crappy story! LOL!

Sorry for a late reply to the story, with the walkthrough and all the other stuff I've been doing lately it can take me a while. ^^;

Anyway, aside from a misspell or two and a few places where the wording is a little jumbled, you expressed their emotions and actions near perfectly. I think you did a good job.

And any RPG that stays alive I'm willing to join. A bunch of our RPs here just died in the past month or two, yeah? =/

And again, good job on the story, Heat Wave. ^_^
